Certain concepts proposed by western authors in the field of HRM appear to be very significant from the viewpoint of making HRM more effective.
That is why several Indian management experts and practicing managers have appreciated them. Some such concepts worth mentioning are pre-training motivation, career anchors, rewards expectancies and job design.
However is desirable to find out empirically whether these concepts ate indeed relevant to Indian work settings. Even if they turn out to be significantly relevant to the Indian work settings it would be better to fit them in our cultural frame works. This would make it possible to use our ancient wisdom contained in scriptures like Bhagwad Geeta with a view to remove the hurdles caused by limitations of the implementations of the said concepts. Thus if western concepts are required to undergo the process of Indianization, their implementation in the Indian work setting will become meaningful.
